How to draw a human eyeball

Hello everyone! Just for laughs, I made a tutorial on how to draw an eye, which is probably the only thing I know how to draw well. Here it is!

How to Draw an Eye

First, gather your materials.
 you will need...
A charcoal pencil that is medium soft (the one in the middle)
A white chalk pencil (the one to the right)
A hard pencil, I used a 5B (the one to the left)
Paper ( regular old, 8 1/2 by 11 works just fine)
A knife for sharpening the pencils and a container to catch the shavings
A mirror so you can look at your own eye for reference (I use a narrow one so i can look at just my eye)
Hairspray

Make sure you have all your stuff at a table or other hard surface that is comfortable to draw at ( I draw on a piece of cardboard as i'm sitting on my bed) Now on to drawing!

Sharpen the medium pencil to a medium point (not too thin, not too fat, use your good judgment)

Draw a line. This will be the top of the eye.

Add the basic shape of an eye.

Add a triangle sort of shape at the corner and lightly add the line under the eye (too heavy on that line and it will look like your eye needs some sleep)

Smudge the corner and under the eye

Lightly smudge the top of the eye and then add the round bit (I don't know what its called, lol)

Add the pupil and make sure it's nice and darkly colored

Color in the round part, then smudge. Make sure the pupil is nice and dark.

Blend the edges of the pupil with the round part

Darken the upper part of the eye (this will be the eyelid)

I use the word "smudge" a lot, don't I...

Add that little line thing, then lightly smudge

Soften up all the edges and define the corner of the eye a bit

Now is the time to make some little adjustments, use your judgment so it looks good to you.

Time to start the eyebrow! Draw a line that is roughly the same as the line in the first step.

Darken the line a bit, then smudge

Arch the eyebrow by adding another slightly curved line

Darken the brow by using short little strokes that look like hair, then smudge lightly

Shade all around and under the eye as lightly as you can.  I find that I have usually enough charcoal left on my fingers from all the shading that I really don't have to use the pencil.

Up to this point, I have been using that ^^^ pencil, which is a medium soft pencil, but now...

But now I switch to the 5B pencil, which is harder then the other pencil
Now add some detail with the 5B pencil to the brow.

Now I switch to my white chalk pencil
With the white pencil I add a little highlight to the eye to make it pop

Add the finishing details. Lighten up what needs to be lightened, darken up what needs to be darkened, smudge what needs to be smudged, you get the idea...

Once everything is just the way you want it, take the hairspray and spray the paper with it so that it won't smudge. Try to hold the bottle of spray about a foot (30 centimeters) away from the paper and spray it in short bursts  (no pictures of this because i needed both hands)

A good way to tell if you sprayed the paper enough is if you hold it up to a bright light. If the eye is mostly covered then you're good. If the paper is dripping with hair spray then you put way too much on.

This is the final step! Once the hairspray is all dry then sign your masterpiece and date the work. I always like to put the date on my work so in a couple of months I can look back and say "Wow! That looks like crap! I'm so much better now!"

I hope this tutorial has not been too confusing and that it help you with your drawings. I'd love to see them if you post them so send me a link please.
Hey Hellboy, do you think you could get your brother to look at this? please?

Byeeeeeeeeeeeee Y'all!

MY One Day Challenge of Epic Proportions...

...So technically I was taking pictures of random stuff...but hey, why the hell not.

This is my very messy dresser. And that mug there is holding my green tea.

This is what it looks like outside of my bedroom window.

This is a picture of my dolphin collection (bottom shelf).

(This picture really shouldn't be in this spot but it is a defiant little bugger and I give up.) These are dead roses (just how I like 'em) in a basket on top of a stand made out of Leggo. And yes, I was extremely bored that day.

My parents were taking me to my grandmother's house, and on the way were picking up (renting) some movies. I waited in the car and took this picture of the parking lot.

This is my grandmother's idiotic dog. She's cute...but not entirely all that smart. But I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say it's because she's still a puppy.

This is Carl. Best cat in the world. He loves ice cream but gets violently sick if he eats it. I was eating ice cream in front of him while I took this. Aren't I mean?

And this is a Transmutation circle on my bedroom ceiling at my grandmother's house. (From Fullmetal Alchemist). I don't know what possessed me to draw this a while back.

So that my friends, was MY Epic...Something or other challenge of sorts...I think. On the off note, my mother wants to move to Australia (that won't be happening ANYtime soon) thank god because I'd die out there. Um...And I saw a very interesting movie today ('tis mostly a documentary). It's called GasLand. If you are able to check it out, I definately suggest it. It gets curioser and curioser as it goes on. I think that is all I wished to say...

Blessed be,
Miss Mary

P.S. Bow to my greatness! (Yep, I've gone completely off the wall).

My One Day Challenge [see Lizzy's genius post]

I failed the challenge. xD
lol I chose to do my picture taking on an odd day so I did it the next day too, but that was an odd day as well so I did it for the third time. Sadly, that day was unusual too xD.... So I decided to take pictures from all THREE days and put them on here! :]
P.S. these probably won't be in order, but just random..... because random is awesome...... Ok fine, not because random is awesome, but because I'm too lazy to sort them. Well, all that counts are the photos, right? Right? RIGHT??!?!!!!?

A scene from an episode of my favorite show: Pushing Daisies. If you haven't seen this marvelously fantastic show, you're missing out. :]

I was expecting my dad to get me a Tall :]
And yes, I did drink an entire frozen drink in the winter. :P

My cat, Tinkerbell!!! <3 <3
We've had her for.... at least 11 years. She showed up in our garage one day with kittens :]

Heh heh heh
Leave it to Kallista to make you laugh!

I know most of you probably see this very often, but I don't because in Louisiana it's rather rare for it to even get cold enough to freeze anything. Though, I wasn't in La when I took this picture, I was farther up north when we were taking my brother back to college. It's was exciting to see a frozen bush. :]

Fire!!! Whooo!!!

Julian Smith: Hot Kool Aid! It's very funny!

My girl, Blue, and her baby. :] Isn't it just the most adorable photo of the two ever?!?

My windows were icy!! Sweet!!!

Gorgeous sunset! This picture is actually quite pathetic compared to the beauty of it in person. :]

And that, my friends, concludes my folder of smile educing photos.
Hopefully, they procured a smile from you too! :]

My little sister made her pancake into pacman and she wanted me to take a picture
My epic sweatshirt

After Breakfast I started work in blog-land.

Hellboy has gotten me addicted to minecraft :P

Everyone I'd like you to meet Jimmy-the-skull. Jimmy is a plastic skull that I've been using as a reference when I 'm drawing Skullduggery, he's also useful for resiting Shakespeare.

This is my wall-o-ideas. I put butcher paper on my walls and then i stand on my bed and write out my ideas. I also taped pictures and stuff onto it

My favorite song on my MP3 player!

A picture of a centaur-zebra-thingy. He has a big sword

The One Day Challenge.

Hey guys (and gals) I have a challenge for y'all... Pick one, just one, day and carry a camera around all day. It can just be your phone camera or whatever, but every time you see something that makes you smile, take a picture.

If you're playing video games and get a head shot or something else "Woot!" worthy, pause the game and take a picture.

If you are messing around with your friends, take a picture.

If you are driving someplace and see a beautiful sunset, take a picture.

Even if you are here in blog-land, take a picture of the screen if what you're doing makes you happy.

At the end of the day upload your pictures (you can block out faces and stuff if you want) so we can see what makes you smile :)

Topsy The Elephant

Now as I'm sure you're all aware tommorow (January 4th) is the 108th anniversary of the death of Topsy the Elephant who was electrocuted  on the 4th January 1903.

This common knowledge is being forgotten and so I am writing this post as a memorial for Topsy who was fed 460 grams of carrots laced with potassium cyanide before being electrocuted by a 6,600 volt AC current.

This event was caught on film by Thomas Edison and her execution was watched by 1,500 people.

Now although she did kill three people ( including an abusive trainer who attempted to feed her a lit cigarette)
I feel that she should be remembered as a good elephant who didn't deserve to die.
